Shortcrust Pastry
Makes: 350g Preparation time:

Ingredients
225g Plain Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch Salt
55g Lard
70g Margarine
Cold Water
Method 1. Sift flour with baking powder and
salt.
2. Rub in margarine and lard until mixture resembles breadcrumbs
3. Make a well in the middle and add water gradually, 3-4 tbls should be
enough, until the mixture binds together.
4. If your mixture is a little wet add a sprinkling of plain flour and knead
until it reaches the right consistency.
5. Roll out on a floured board or surface.
6. Use as required.
7.For a pastry case, line dish to be used with pastry and trim. Line with
greaseproof paper. Add a layer of pasta or breadcrumbs to stop the pastry
from rising and bake for about 20 minutes at 200°C.

Tips
For Vegetarians use vegetable fat instead of lard.
When lining your pastry case if you don't have greaseproof paper then
you can use foil, just check that base of case is cooked properly.
